Weichert’s Season of Giving Supports Local Communities

1/24/2024

The Weichert Family of Companies joined together for another “Season of Giving” and closed out 2023 on a high note by supporting local charitable organizations and persons in need with holiday gifts and nourishing food.

As part of its 45th Annual Toy Drive, Weichert collected almost 7,000 new toys for underprivileged families and children. In addition to toys, cash and gift cards were collected and donated to various charities, along with clothing, blankets and food.

Complementing the toy drive, Weichert continued its partnership with Move for Hunger for its Annual Holiday Food Drive to benefit local food pantries and the food insecure. The food drive raised $2,889, which translates to 7,309 meals for those in need. Along with monetary donations, the Weichert community contributed approximately 752 pounds of food items, which is an additional 627 meals.

“Giving back to the communities in which we live and work is an important part of the Weichert culture,” said Joe McDonald, president of Residential Sales and Real Estate Services for Weichert, Realtors. “For 45 years, our Annual Toy Drive has assisted many wonderful organizations so that families and children may have a joyful holiday. And in partnership with Move for Hunger, we are able to help stock pantry shelves and provide hundreds of meals to the food insecure. I am proud of our colleagues for their kindness and generosity, especially during the holiday season.”

Inspired by this year’s toy drive theme, “Embrace the Spirit of the Season!”, Weichert colleagues, associates, friends and family contributed gifts to various organizations that support underprivileged families, as did residents and businesses of the local communities where Weichert has its sales offices.

“The Weichert Family of Companies was proud to embrace the spirit of the holiday season through the tradition of our annual toy and food drives,” said Jim Weichert. “For more than 50 years, supporting our local communities has been a cornerstone of the Weichert Way. We appreciate everyone who helped make Weichert’s Season of Giving another success.”

Toys and other gifts were donated to many charities throughout the Northeast, including ARC; CASA; Catholic Charities; David’s Touch Foundation; Embry Rucker Community Shelter; Essex County Sheriff’s Toy Drive; Friendship Center for New Beginnings; Good News Home; Ocean of Love; New Jersey Battered Women’s Shelter; Naomi’s Way Housing/Catholic Charities; New Jersey Department of Child Protection and Permanency’s Holiday Appeal; Newark Beth Israel Hospital; Octavius V. Catto School; PathForward; Ronald McDonald House Charities; Roxbury Police Department; RWJ Barnabas Health/Children’s Specialized Hospital; St. Gregory’s Pantry; and U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program, to name just a few.

The new, unwrapped toys and other contributions were collected at Weichert, Realtors sales offices in New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC, as well as the company’s corporate office in Morris Plains, NJ.
