Weichert, Realtors' David Forward Wins REALTOR® Magazine's Good Neighbor Award

MEDFORD, N.J. - David Forward, a sales associate with Weichert, Realtors' Medford, N.J. Office, has been named one of five recipients of REALTOR® Magazine's Good Neighbor Award for 2005.

REALTOR® Magazine is published by the National Associate of Realtors (NAR). NAR, representing 1.2 million members, is America's largest trade association.

Selected from more than 300 nominations across the U.S., Forward was honored for founding the International Children's Aid Foundation (ICAF), which operates a home for abandoned children, trains care-givers at state orphanages and currently supports more than 200 orphans in Romania.

Forward has escorted more than 60 volunteer trips to Romania since 1991, often bringing doctors, dentists, physical therapists, and teachers to apply their skills to the crushing needs of Romania's orphans. He has set up a medical and dental clinic open to the entire town and has convinced volunteer medical professionals to fly, at their own expense, to Romania to teach the latest techniques and to provide hands-on care. ICAF built and operates its own home, Casa Emanuel, which the Romanian government has called "the finest childcare facility in the country" and also assists state-run orphanages through "Bright Beginnings," an early childhood education program. ICAF provides job training and life skills classes for teenagers and orphans who will be released from state care at age 18.

The Good Neighbor Awards recognize the efforts of Realtors® who make exceptional contributions as volunteers to improving the quality of life in their communities. This year, there were more than 300 nominations from all over the United States.
