Weichert Relocation Resources Employees Volunteer To Make A Difference In Their Communities

5/17/2005

MORRIS PLAINS, N.J. - Volunteering their time and talents, Weichert Relocation Resources Inc. employees across North America recently took part in the company’s CommunityCare Day, lending support to local soup kitchens and food pantries, homeless shelters, nursing homes, and other worthwhile causes within their communities.

Held twice a year, CommunityCare Day is a company-wide day of volunteering, part of Weichert Relocation Resources’ long-standing commitment to give back to the communities where its employees live and work. The company complements these volunteer efforts with financial donations to the community-based organizations its employees rally behind.

“CommunityCare Day has become the heart of Weichert Relocation Resources’ corporate giving program,” said Aram Minnetian, president of Weichert Relocation Resources. “Our employees’ passion for making a difference in the lives of others -- whether it’s a family being relocated across the country or a family in need within their own communities -- is a tremendous source of pride for our company.”

In Morris Plains, New Jersey, employees participated in the United Way’s Project Homecoming, a reception for local soldiers of the New Jersey Army National Guard returning from active duty in Iraq. Employees helped to decorate the reception site, hang posters, and thank the soldiers for their service and sacrifice.

In Denver, employees spent the day at the Jeffco Action Center, a shelter for underprivileged families, assembling shelving, sorting food donations, and stocking shelves.

In Boston, employees volunteered their time at the Greater Boston Food Bank, the largest hunger relief organization in New England, sorting 11,000 pounds of food.

In Houston, employees raised over $3,000 for the Southeast Texas Epilepsy Foundation by participating in the two-mile 2005 Head Over Heels Run.

Employees from the Chicago office brought joy to an elderly couple in Brookfield, IL, by performing extensive yard cleaning and landscaping on their home, cutting down trees, removing debris, removing vines, raking leave, and performing other tasks.

In Wilton, CT, employees spearheaded a beautification effort at the Bacharach Community, a member of the Interfaith Housing Association, which provides assistance and shelter to homeless mothers and their children. North of the border, employees in Calgary shared the spirit of giving, volunteering at the Mustard Seed Street Ministry where they prepared and served breakfast for more than 600 homeless people.

In Toronto, employees joined in the fight against multiple sclerosis, participating in the MS Society’s Walk-a-Thon and raising money for this cause. Collectively, twenty percent of Weichert Relocation Resources’ total global workforce participated in this event.

Since its inception, Weichert Relocation Resources has encouraged employee volunteerism through programs, such as CommunityCare Day, that support projects closely aligned with two of the company’s most prominent corporate objectives: helping families and improving communities.
